As you know from my blog (21st June 2011) I entered this year’s PICTURE THIS. This is Waterstone’s search to find a talented new picture book illustrator. The 2011 competition was to find a new illustrator for Michael Morpurgo’s Beauty and the Beast. My entries can now be viewed in the portfolio.

The first stage closed on the 4th July 2011 and a shortlist of 7 candidates were announced on the 29th July 2011…sadly I was not one of them, but the chosen entries are very talented, each has a very different art style and definitely have potential to go onto successful illustration careers.

Winner to be announced in the autumn!

As some of you know, I like to do a bit of sewing from time to time. I have now set myself a new project to make a quilt! After much collection of material and creating a design, I have nearly cut out all of the material into their appropriate shapes… just need to put it all together! I will show the final result as soon as it is done.

I will be creating illustrations to accompany blog entries made by Jennifer (aka ‘Fatty Blob Head’), as she explains ‘how she navigates through life being the ‘chubby’ friend’.

I am entering this year’s PICTURE THIS. This is Waterstone’s search to find a talented new picture book illustrator. One of the world’s greatest story tellers, Michael Morpurgo, has agreed to write his own version of the nation’s favourite fairy tale – Beauty and the Beast.

The first stage closes on the 4th July 2011 17:30GMT. A shortlist of six candidates will be drawn up by the judging panel, and those shortlisted will be notified.

Over the last few weeks I have been working hard on some new Father’s Day greeting card designs. Using my own dad for a reference, I have made card designs with all his favourite things; motorbikes, cars, and lounging in the garden!
